How I Work
A short explanation of how I approach sound, gear, and creators.
Why this site exists
I've spent most of my working life around audio: performing, recording, producing, and reviewing it. Over time I've learned that most creators don't need more gear. They need fewer bad decisions.
This site exists to make that easier. Not by selling hype, but by making good judgment easier to access.
How I think about sound
I don't think in terms of "best microphones" or "pro gear." I think in terms of tradeoffs: rooms, voices, budgets, deadlines, and what actually survives real-world use.
Good audio is rarely about buying the right thing. It's about choosing the least wrong compromise.
How I think about creators
Most creators are working in bad rooms, under time pressure, with equipment they already own. My job (whether in a video, a product, or a private reply) is to respect that reality.
I don't believe in setups that only work in perfect studios. I believe in setups that work on Tuesday night when you're tired and just need to get something out.
Why the ethics page matters
I review and talk about products for a living, which means conflicts of interest are unavoidable. The only way that works is if they're acknowledged and managed openly.
That's why there's an ethics page on this site. It's not there to look good. It's there so you can decide whether to trust me.
What ties all of this together
Everything on this site (the products, the videos, the contact form) comes from the same place:
Practical audio, explained honestly, for people who are actually doing the work.
Some companies I've collaborated with
Over the years, I've worked with a range of audio and creator-focused companies. These relationships don't affect how I evaluate or talk about gear, which is why they're disclosed openly.
